Hi, I wanted to know what codec should i use for a Windows laptop - mostly i see responses for Apple products. Would be great if someone could share some insight.

Premiere Pro V 24.6.1

My PC has Windows 11

Thank you.

ProRes Proxy format for sure. No h.264/5, Cineform also works wells.

Premiere defaults to Prores Quicktime Proxy which is just fine.

Hi All,

I will provide more clarity regarding my question.

First i went to "Adobe Media Encoder", then chose "Create Encoding Preset".

Here in the "Export Settings" there are the following options that are related to my Query:

1 -  "Format"

2 - "Based on Preset"

So for Macbooks i understand that it's best to choose "Quick Time" in Format and "Apple Prores 422" in Based on Preset.

My question is what options should i choose for these 2 fields since i do not have a Macbook, I use a Windows laptop.

Hope I have put forward my question better this time.

Also sharing a printscreen of the page where these options are available in Adobe Media Encoder.

As noted above, ProRes or Cineform.

Because it doesn't matter whether you're on a Mac or PC for this. I've never owned an Apple device, and always used to use Cineform proxies. Now frequently I'll take the ProRes Proxy or Lt option.

Yes, do not use what is in your screenshot. And ProRes 422 is not needed for proxies, So, as has been mentioned ProRes LT or more likely ProRes Proxy.

Windows users have had access to ProRes for some years now.
