Has anyone ever had all recent .prproj files corrupted?

For some reason all my .prproj files for the past 6 months are now whowing up as white icons and unable to be opened in Premiere Pro.  What would cause this?  and is there any way back from this?

Attached is a screenshot of my finder window:

It could be many things, including a failing hard drive.

Can you create a new project and import the corrupted project into it?

Thank you PeruBob. I was able to restore the files after purchasing more
storage space on iCloud since somehow my Media Cache had defaulted to my
Documents folder which is auto backed up on icloud. I wondered if that had
anything to do with it and I upgraded my storage space this morning and
this afternoon the files were once again openable.

Thank you for trying to help me.
