This is more an annoyance than a big issue, but I often work between After Effects and Premiere and Media Encoder. When a client comes back and changes a graphic or a super (or I make a typo -doh!), my workflow is to go back into AE, make the changes and then re-render to the same file names, automatically replacing the original clips. I make sure to keep clips the same length and same format. The only gotcha is you have to make sure you're not parked on the clip in Premiere or of course it simply won't render.
This workflow works well for me. But I have noticed on numerous occasions, multiple versions of the software, different machines etc, so I don't think the specs are important here, that Media encoder will throw up a random error "error retrieving frame from" one of the replaced files. So is the render corrupt? No. If I go back into Premiere Pro and just play the clip on the timeline then export again - even duplicate the existing export in ME then it will render out fine.
As this problem seems to have existed in AE->PP->ME for years I imagine others might have noticed it. Any suggestions? Should I post it as a bug report - it's a bit hard to nail down.

It could be the issue of media cache and database which Premiere Pro creates for the clips.
This what the Adobe help says -
"A database retains links to each of the cached media files. This media cache database is shared with Adobe Media Encoder, Adobe Premiere Pro, and After Effects so that each of these applications can each read from and write to the same set of cached media files
So when you play the file in Premeire pro it recreates the media cache and database which resloves the issue. May be next time you can try refreshing the clip my disabling it and enable it again in timeline.

That makes sense Vishu. I think I'll go ahead and log it as a bug anyway. Adobe should be checking timestamps on files and recreating or dumping cache as necessary - throwing up an error on export just seems a bit random. For example it doesn't happen in After Effects if I reverse the process (ie change a graphic in Photoshop and replace it in AE or modify a source clip In PP and change it in AE). Mind you there's lots of things AE handles more gracefully than PP.
