The Timeline Panel may have many Sequences in it - each is identified by a tab on top that contains the name of the sequences.
I will arrange the tabs according to a personal workflow preference - the only way I know to rearrange them is to drag individual tabs back and forth.
Note there are many tabs so it may take time to do this.
But after closing Premiere and restarting, those tabs come up rearranged into a (apparent) random order and I have to spend time to rearrange them again.
Is there something I need to set for the tab order to be retained between restarts?

Try saving the workspace as a new workspace.
If that doesn't work, try resetting the preferences:

Saving the workspace under a new name seems to work (although I tried it only once). Thanks!

Unfortunately the reordering of tabs problem is back again. Despite using that same new workspace (as suggested above), the tabs are again out of order. So again I reordered, saved , closed PPro, then reopened PPro, and watched the tabs come up out of order, several times.
is it a fair expectation that Premiere Pro CC retain the tab orders? I don't remember this problem with PPro 6 or even prior CC versions - it seems to be something that began happening not too many versions ago (but I can't tell you when).

@Imenningen, is this still happening to you as well?

This is driving me nuts. Reseting preferences doesn't work. Saving new workspaces doesn't work. I can't keep the order of my tabs. For me, I don't even have to close the program . . . I can't even keep the order of tabs when just switching between workspaces.

I'm seeing the same problem. I put the timeline tabs in the order I need and when I change workspace or close the project the order is lost. Same happens in the project panel. I like the project tab far left but each time I open a project it's sitting far right. Can we lock the panel tabs in the order we like them?

I see (almost) the same things here and like the Project panel to the far left as well. The timelines re-order here as well but my Project panel stays on the left side all the time. But, when i create a new project the Project panel is back on the right side...
I hoped/assumed that the "New UI" in CC2025 would take care of those issues that has been here for years.
