Return Ripple Delete Head Frame to the Q Key - We don't want to press a second key!

New Here ,
Dec 01, 2021 Dec 01, 2021

Hello.

This article uses a translator.

I am using it after updating from Premiere 2021 version to 2022 version.

The ripple delete function that worked normally in the 2021 version does not work in the 2022 version.

I have attached a video for you to check.

The keyboard shortcut you are familiar with is 'Q'.

I am looking for an answer to this problem.

Anyone know how to solve it?

We have added the desired functionality, Ripple trim of first frame when you are at the head of a clip, as a new shortcut - Ripple Delete Head Frame. This is in the current Premiere Pro 22.5 Beta (build 032+) available in Creative Cloud.

Back by popular demand you can ripple delete one frame at a time with your preferred keyboard shortcut. To use it, set up a Keyboard Shortcut (Option-Command-K) and search for “Ripple Delete Head Frame.” Once you have designated your KBS, position your playhea

J.G.,

Sorry. The behavior you are used to is not the way the tool was originally designed, so the feature you liked was actually a bug fix. However, many editors grew used to the ability to trim with Q as you showed - and they consider the fix to be a bug. Frustrating, I know.

The way the tool was designed: you have to move the playhead, then press Q. Others have also brought up this issue. You can let the team know about the issue on this thread. Perhaps the devs can bring back this behavior in some way in the future. Let them know, OK?

Thanks,

Kevin

We need one key press (needs to be Q, and W), for one frame removal. Not in some way, bring it back.

Mod note: User Voice is no longer working. Upvote this thread instead.

This is inferior to the previous behaviour as I have to bind it to another key.

Also why is there no ripple delete tail frame?

This was such a useful, time saving, feature allowing me to cut approximately then tweak precisely with the same key. I really don't understand changing it.

Hi,

Thanks for your post. I can understand the cases you have made for ripple trim to playhead. Feel free to share your idea with the team here. Sorry for the frustration.

Take Care,
Kevin

Not sure if that's a joke, but it's a link to the community forums for Premiere, where we currently are.

If it was that voice link, that link is dead.

Need a new way to contact developers about this issue/glitch/bug that has never been addressed. Frustrating to hear "Back by popular demand", but offer a short cut key which is two key presses / double time wasted. Please help. Resolve, and Avid are current solutions we are using at the DGC, Directors Guild of Canada. I'm team Adobe. Help.

It sounds like you tried mapping the Ripple Delete Head Frame command in your Keyboard Shortcuts dialog box. That is the solution the product team came up with. I'm sorry if that adding an extra shortcut key for what you want is not conducive to your workflow.

it's a link to the community forums for Premiere, where we currently are. If it was that (User) voice link, that link is dead.

Regarding the forums: a change happened around a year ago. User Voice is dead. The link is to the "Ideas" (feature request) forum, which is a forum within the Premiere Pro community. You can also click on "Bugs" to file a bug on that forum if you have a bug to file. This Discussions forum is a "user-to-user" forum with only some participation from employees. I should pin a post to the forum explaining all this. Sorry about that.

I am the forums moderator and I can pass along messages from this forum. I can also move discussions to bugs or ideas.

Need a new way to contact developers about this issue/glitch/bug that has never been addressed.

  • Bugs and Ideas forums take the place of User Voice (and Wishform before that) which was retired over a year ago.
  • The Premiere Pro Product Team (engineering, product managment, and marketing) reads bugs and ideas forums.
  • This is the main way to contact developers.

Unfortunately, they cannot respond to each post here but they do read them. Sorry if that isn't satisfactory.

Since I'm not on the team, I'm not sure what it would take to "put it back" the way it was working before. I surely wouldn't mind advocating for the return of this function for you and the community who liked the function the way it worked out of the gate.

I am going to move the post to the Bugs forum. Sorry again for the frustration.

Thanks,
Kevin
