Rolling Txt Background Color

Greetings,

I have watched several U.T.tutorils on rolling txt,all with BLACK background. How would I change the background from black to another color?

You can put anything you like behind text you create in Premiere Pro.

If you want a solid colour - go to your project window. Hover over the small icons at the bottom right of the project window until you find 'new item' (it's the small white box with the folded corner), right click and select 'color matte' from the pop-up menu. Once you've chosen the size of your color matte and clicked OK you'll come to a screen that allows you to choose the colour you want the matte to be. Once created you can place this matte (drag it from the project window) into your sequence underneath your text layer. i.e. text on V2, matte on V1.

Steve's answer is correct ... as what the black is, is simply "nothing". You have text, but if there's nothing else there, most NLEs will simply show black. So putting a color matte under it as Steve suggests works quite well. And you can put other things in that track, such as say a shadows of a tree moving on a wall, waves lapping up on a beach ... any kind of repeating/self-modifying footage, and get a cool roll background.

Or ... in the EGP, when making your roll, go to the Edit tab, and add a rectangle, size it to the whole screen, select a color for it, and make sure it's below the text in the layer stack in the EGP.
