When I open Premiere Pro CC and when I open a project thereafter, I get the following message in a small pop up: Run Script Error Expected:)
I get a similar pop up in After Effects but it reads: Unable to run script at line 1. Expected:)
In each case, there is an "okay" button which I click. The same small pop up window returns and I must hit "okay" several more times before the popup is banished for good. Each program then runs as normal. This happens if I open from the short cut on the task bar or from the .EXE program file directly. I'm running Windows 10. Windows, Premiere Pro and After Effects are all updated.
What is doing this and can I fix it?

No, and I did check and there was another Windows update. I updated and I'm still getting the pop ups, even when running as an administrator. I tried looking at the short cut settings and nothing looked amiss. No missing ). I even let Windows select a preferred compatibility setting and the pop ups still appear upon launching PP and AE.
Curiously, I get no such messages in Photoshop or Illustrator. It's just the video related programs though that might be just a coincidence.
I'm not sure what scripts are running on launch. I don't have any macros, scripts or add-ins loading. I'm running them pretty much stock. I just downloaded AE yesterday so I hadn't even had a chance to set up a workspace and save it yet. Thanks for your help.

are you using a mogrt in your project?
if yes, this mogrt might be based on a script in after effects that requires having it
installed in your system, this is just a possibility ...
if you start a fresh new project, do you still get the same message?

Hello Carlos. Nope. Never used the program on this computer. Fresh install. Adobe says it is the video card that needs to be replaced and they provided me with a list of "compatible" cards for the PC. Odd that the card does not work. Works with everything else. That is as I ALSO had to upgrade from Windows 7 to 10. Maybe they have shares in Video Card Companies and Microsoft.

does either your project itself or any footage used in it have apostrophes or other special characters in its filename? if so, remove them and try again.

No.. no apostrophes. The "apostrophe in file name" is not the problem, unfortunately. Something else is going on.

I found out why after cleaning out my system with Adobe cleaner and reinstalling the apps..it is not the case. If you have 3rd party extensions, remove them. The script error will go away. Trying to figure out why (must be the update and Adobe forcing us to use the extensions that are only on Adobe exchange (and not other places like Envato).
