Scratch disk issues

I've had a look around in the forum but I can't seem to find any answers to my question.

We are around 10 persons on my company that work with Premiere Pro every day.

On every computer we have an external SSD disk that we use as a scratch disk.

We are all using a template Premiere project that we copy each time we're about to start a new production.

Here's the problem, every time I open my copied template project I have to go to File/Project Settings/Scratch Disks... and point it to my local SSD.

Me personally are fine with that, but many of us keeps forgetting it, resulting in autosaves, render files etc ending up in the wrong place.

Is there a way to somehow let the project always point the scratch disk to every computers local SSD?

I would like to NOT keep a local template on every computer, since I have to update the template from time to time.

That would be my recommendation.

You'll need to decide if updating all the templates every once in a while is more hassle than updating every project on every machine every time.

It's seems like in Premiere Pro CC 2017.1 you can't set up default scratch disks, see more here for best practice using scratch disks in Premiere Pro : Setting up your system to Premiere Pro , but instead you can set up media cache location, they are different but it helps when is coming to performance, if the machines are the same, I would just copy Premiere Pro preferences Configure preference settings in Premiere Pro

I believe the problem lies in the fact that you use an external SSD instead of an internal SSD. Probably, the boot sequence results in PPro not recognising the external drive as a "fixed" source/destination.

Adobe staff would have to confirm this, though.

In my system, PPro always uses the same (internal) scratch disk for any project I start. Auto-saves have been set so that they end up in the same directory as the main project.

All the suggestions above were indeed helpful, but unfortunately none of them were "perfect" for my issue.

Sorry if that sounded bad, I really do appreciate ALL of the answers. It's very helpful.

I guess I have to have a think about which suggestion will be best for us.
