So I know this worked earlier in my project but it seems as it's progressed the function is no longer working. As in I get no results for things I type, or completely non applicable results. Using the Find tool actually now crashes the program too.

This solution seemed to work for me as well. My project would leave out clips that should have appeared when I searched on a given term. I uploaded my project to the site tool mentioned above and it gave me a new project file. When I opened it in Premiere it complained that the file was too old and had to be upgraded. So, I saved this new version under a new name and the searches now respond correctly!

J,
I wouldn't trust any website like that with my project file. It's a hack that crudely alters the project file. Why not roll back the way approved by the Premiere Pro team, by exporting FCP XML? That usually does the job just fine.
Thanks,
Kevin

Kevin-Monahan Can you please respond to J Schaap's last statement regarding the innefectiveness of Adobe's approaches to it's flawed softare, when he stated that "others (in this thread) have tried the XML route and it hasn't worked." ? This original thread started in 2019. This dialoge between you and J Schapp took place in 2021. It's currently 2025 and Adobe has STILL not resolved this issue.

It's been 5 years and this still was not fixed. The project explorer's search function randomly stop workings and there's no fix in sight. Why am I paying for this software?

Same here. This is incredibly frustrating. A basic program on even a computer from 1995 has a working search function. What is going on here?

It has now been 6 years. Still broken. Typical Adobe product BS... unfortunately, not very surprising at all. Add this to overwhelming list of unsolved and unresolved problems that this software is absolutely riddled with.

It appears (for me at least), that this bug has been fixed in the latest version of Premiere 2025.

Not for me, sadly. I have a huge project and this randomly stopped working.

Me either. I came right to this thread today because this issue is occurring for me now. Per usual, it's a game of "Glitchy - Russian Roullette" when using Adobe software.
