When I am in the Program Panel and use the Text tool I want to be able to:
1-Stop typing in the text box (finalize the text)
2-Change back to the selection tool
however, when i'm in the Type tool Premiere doesn't recognize commands, of course, because i'm typing. What ends up happening is i often accidentally click elsewhere and am still using the Text tool, so i end up with a bunch of empty text boxes that i have to clear later.
is there a shortcut to end typing in the Text Box, so i can then change back to the selection tool with the 'v' shortcut? thanks!
When done typing, press ESC and then V to go back from the Type Tool to the Selection Tool.

I did also struggle to find it. In After Effects and Photoshop i have for years used Ctrl+Enter and was/is puzzled that this shortcut was not implemented in Premiere Pro. If i write something in After Effects and press ESC it aborts what i wrote.
I hope that Adobe implements Ctrl+Enter for finalizing the text in Premiere Pro. Having to learn different shortcuts for the same actions is frustrating.

It's easier to go back to the tool bar than contort your hand to do esc-V (IMO).

Me too. The tip is not well-known. I need to check to see if that is in the User Guide. I do not recall it.
Thanks,

I've also discovered (on a Mac where Command key is typically used instead of Control) that

You've thought about this, haven't you, Rowan? 🙂
Good job. I hadn't considered some of these options.

Only every time I type a V into the text field! 😂
I do wonder why Cmd-Return (Mac) or Ctrl-Return (Windows) to exit out of a text field back to the previous tool hasn't been implemented given that shortcut does nothing currently.
