simple box colour change help

Since the update I actually cant change the colour of a verrrrrrry simple box and keep the text. 

I draw a box and cant see text even though I arrange text to 'Bring to Front'

When you post a question you always need to tell the Adobe program you are using
There are MANY programs in a full subscription, plus other non-subscription programs

How different is one version to the next?

Just want to change a colour of a box. Is there no standard practice for that like there is in word and PowerPoint?

Finally figured it out (actually embarrasingly very simple)

Find the image you want on google. Download. Save it as a PNG. Adobe lets you upload and reshape that etc.

So much easier than trying to draw up your own.
