Simple title before video

I want to create a simple title, that fades to black, before the first video in the sequence. Every tutorial I find shows me how to overlay text onto the video, which isn't what I want.

Here is a video we have on how to add text! This tutorial also shows you how to overlay text onto a clip – however, if you do the steps in this video and clear out the bottom layer, it will be blank behind your text. In the video tutorial, the video clip is green in the timeline. You could move that green clip out from under the pink text clip (or delete the green clip completely) and the text would be on a black background. I hope that helps!
