Snapping holding shift

New Here ,
Sep 24, 2021 Sep 24, 2021

Usually I move clips in the timeline by holding shift and dragging to snap clips together. However now when I hold shift and drag it's locking the clips vertically to their original postion. They cannot be moved horizontally whilst holding shift, only verticallly. I have tried reinstalling Premiere and it's still not working? I don't want to leave snap on as I don't need it all the time. Thanks

Try resetting the preferences:

If that doesn't work, try resetting the Workspaces:
Reset a workspace
Reset the current workspace to return to its original, saved layout of panels.
1. Do one of the following:
• Click the Workspace menu icon and select Reset to Saved Layout.
• Choose Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout.

If I am not mistaken, Shift+drag does hold the clips in vertical position. Been such for a while.

If you want to move the entire clip to a different track horizontal, you hold down Ctrl+Shift+drag.

Snap does not interact with Shift + drag or ctrl+shift+drag.

Thanks, I have been holding shift to snap when near edit points and it makes editing extremely fast. I have been looking and many people refer to snapping by holding shift if they don't want to have it on all the time. So there must be a way of enabling it?

Resetting the workspace and resetting presets didn't work.

There must be a tool/ a way of setting it so that when editing without snap on you can move clips to snap next to one another, of setting it so when holding a key it will snap for just that move.

I always used shift + dragging a clip horizontally in TL to snap (while snapping is disabled).

But with the latest update 24.4.1 (Build 2) it no longer works.

I can't believe it's gone...

PLS HELP!
