Source Patching Issue?

New Here ,
Feb 06, 2025 Feb 06, 2025

I started having a problem dragging anything onto my timeline in Premiere 2 days. I can drag directly from my file explorer onto my timeline, but not from my project or preview panels. I can also replace a file to change it, but cant change anything on the timeline otherwise. I'm also able to right click any assets and create a new sequence via clip and then copy and paste over to my main sequence, but this seems like more of a band aid than an actual solution.

After doing research, I thought it was a source patching issue, but toggling on/off the A1/V1 etc didnt yield any results. Additionally, I'm not even able to move assets from bin to bin within my project panel, which makes me think that it's not necessarily a source patching issue. I have tried different projects, I have also tried different versions of Premiere (24 & 23), as well as uninstalling and re-installing the current version.

I had thought maybe it's an issue with my graphics driver or an update issue as well, but I'm able to edit in After Effects without any issue

I am truly out of ideas for a solution, so if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Ann, had originally meant to upload a video showcasing issue with my post, but realized the capture didnt record my Premiere window. I slid premiere from my second monitor over to my laptop screen, and the issue resolved itself. Do you have any idea what the issue might be?

Premiere gets wonky at times if the main UI window with the menu bar is anywhere other than the main UI screen of the computer. Which can be a pain at times. Or moving the Program monitor to a panel on a second screen also.
