Hi all,
Specs: 16 inch MacBook Pro, M1 Max, 32 GB RAM, Mac OS Ventura 13.1, Premiere Pro 23.1
Video: SLog3 from a Sony A7IV
Since December 2022 I've noticed a sharp decline in Premiere Pro performace/responsiveness and have tried all of the suggested solutions to no avail.
For context I edit short 2-3 minute real estate video tours. In a fresh project once I get all my clips in the timeline and begin the edit, the responsiveness of Premiere goes straight to the toilet. The lag when hitting play/pause can be greater than 2 seconds and when you're cutting clips to music it is extremely frustrating to have the playhead continue to move after Q/W are pressed to make a cut. Using ProRes proxies has not made any noticeable difference which I found completely shocking. This is killing my productivity and driving me insane!
Nothing about my workflow has changed since December 2021 (when I got my current computer) and this entire workflow used to work smoothly and without any issues even with the compressed Sony footage. The same files in a Davinci Resolve 18 timeline run buttery smooth even after colour correction. What gives?
Things I've Tried:
Clearing cache, full uninstall/reinstall (with manual deletion of leftover adobe files in Library), changing audio input to none (saw this as a solution and thought why the heck not), high res AND low res ProRes proxies.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Sean,
This must be frustrating. Sorry for the issue. When you notice the timeline performance drop, could you close and reopen the sequence and check if that helps? This might be related to a known issue. Here's a link for more information. You can try installing the latest Beta to check if the editing experience improves. Let us know how it goes. We're here to help.
Thanks,
Ishan
