Text based editing isn't working. can't delete sections

So i'm new to text based edting. i'm not sure why it isn't working.
I try to translate the slip but it fails and doesn't pick up on any dialogue. i then go to Generate static transcript then change audio on track from mix to audio 1. after it creates an auto transcripte and renders. i can see a transcript but when i highlight sections or right click on a section the only option i can click on is correct text. the rest of the options are grayed out and i'm unable to click on them.

What am i doing wrong. i cannot find information on the issue. Please guide me!

@ambitious_navigator2029,

This thread is a bit old. The newer releases allow transcription of select audio tracks.

What are you seeing? A screenshot might help.

I'm having the same issue and it's very annoying. Why isn't it working anymore?

It would not transcribe the dialog on channel 1 for me even though there was dialog. However, if I pointed it to channel 2 it suddenly worked. That said, even though I now have a transcription, it won't delete clip segments so I'm trying to figure that out.

If you only have one clip to use in your main sequence, drag the sequence from the Project Panel to the new icon.

If you have multiple clips, open the sequence in the Source monitor, then use text-based editing to add the parts you want to your main sequence.

If that doesn't make sense, post a screenshot.

How do you nest these two things?

Joshua,

When doing Source Media transcription, you can only transcribe audio in track one. They are working on improving this in the Beta version.

You found the main workaround, which is to use a static transcription. But you must then nest that sequence to use it for text-based editing. It then behaves like a source transcription.
