The following plugins have failed to load WebM.prm

Hello, I have downloaded and installed the WebM plugin from the official website: https://fnord.com/

When I go into Premire or Media Encoder I don't see it as a format being able to export, it just isn't there. When I launch After Effects I get a message: The following plugins have failed to load. Please reinstall these plugins. I have tried reinstalling, downloading again, restarting all programs, restarting my computer but it just doesn't work. Please help me out, thank you.

  • Issue - I was able to install the WebM plugin from the Creative Cloud Program as a plug in from Fnord company. The problem now is that I export my composition which fades out to transparency as a WebM as VP9 and I check “Include Alpha Channels” box and when my video exports it is not transparent but just fades out to black screen instead. Am I doing something wrong?
  • Adobe Premiere Pro version number: 23.9
  • Operating system - Windows 10 Pro
  • System Info: CPU, GPU, RAM, HD:
    • Intel Xeon
    • AMD Ryzen 5
    • RAM - 16 GB
    • Hard Drive (SSD).
  • Video format: I am using a template composition which I have re-edited and when I export in QuickTime RGB + Alpha I get transparency but I need it in WebM format.
  • Workflow details: It is a logo reveal composition which I want to fade out with transparency from 100 to 0 and export it so that when I use it in a website it fades out revealing the website content.
  • Steps to reproduce - (Very important!): I am on my final compositions tab. I have enabled transparency window so I am sure that in the composition everything is set up correctly. I drag the slider to the end and it is fully transparent so I send it to Media Encoder for export. Then I select WebM which I have installed from Creative Cloud Program, plugin by Fnord. I choose VP9 as a codec and check the box to include alpha channels. Then I simply export and when it is done I get the video but instead of fading out to transparency it fades out to black solid background. I have imported the video back to after effects to check and yes it is indeed fading out to black instead to transparency. In my website it does the same also when I upload and use it as a video.
  • Expected result - The video should have exported in a WebM format with transparency background
  • Actual result -  The video exported in a WebM format with a solid black background in the end when I fades out instead into transparency.

Hi @Viktorio26859386k9mh,

@Viktorio26859386k9mh

Thanks for the message. I'm unsure if the team can address your issue, so I'll move your post to the "Discussions" forum. Have you tried contacting the company that creates the fnord plugin. The workaround is to rewrap to .webm using Shutter Encoder or check out a plugin by Autokroma. Sorry for the frustration.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hello,

Did have the same problem, webm did not appear for export and could not import either with plugin 1.5, managed to find an older one 1.1 and it worked. Wish we could download every version, or even better, adobe including webm in premiere!
