When I use keyframes to fade in from a black video background segment with white text, to a regular video segment several times in my productions. I get the message "This action will delete existing keyframes. Do you want to continue?" each time.
I say "Yes" and there doesn't seem to be any problem with any of the fade-ins or the segments leading up to the fade-ins.
I also add text to the backgrounds of some regular video segments in other places.
When I play the production back, half the places where I have put video in the background have only one letter showing, or none.
Are these two things related, and what can I do to keep all my added text?
Thank you very much.

Can you post screenshots or a video showing the issues?

I have two issues.
The first is this: I insert a black video background segment with white text periodically in my video and then use key frames to do a fade-in to the regular video segment. When I set-up the first keyframe, I get the message "This action will delete existing keyframes. Do you want to continue?" each time.
I say "Yes" because there doesn't seem to be any problem with any of the fade-ins.
I have noticed that all of the video I put on the timeline has a yellow “fx” symbol on it, even though I haven’t added any effects, that turns to black and gray when I say “Yes”. It returns to yellow when I add the keyframes.
A possibly related issue is that I add text to the backgrounds of some regular video segments in other places throughout the video. When I play the production back, half the places where I have put video in the background have only one letter showing, or none.
Are these two things related, and what can I do to keep all my added text?
The second issue is that I asked the above questions in Adobe Premiere Pro community help. I was asked to shoot some video showing the problems. The video I shot to illustrate this issue and then imported from my phone to my desktop shows audio but no video in Premiere Pro. It works fine on my phone. I shot a test video this morning and got the same result. I have never had a problem using video from this phone in Premiere Pro in the past. My Samsung S21 Android phone got a security update yesterday. Could the CODEC have changed? If so, how do I fix this?
Thank you very much.

Can you post a screenshot of the Effects Control Panel with that clip selected?

If premiere is acting up: trash preferences.

Would you explain what you mean by "trash preferences", and how that would effect my use of Premiere Pro?
Thank you.

Start the program while holding down the Option (Mac) or Alt (Windows) key on your keyboard. Hold the key until you receive a message, "Are you sure you want to reset preferences". Click OK. This resets the application preferences. This is usually the first recommended thing to try to fix problems.

I made a short video that is 254 megabites, much bigger than the 47 MB allowed. How can I make it smaller so that I can send it to you? Would I export it at a lower resolution from Premiere Pro (I'm a beginner)?

Cut it into several smaller videos or lower the bitrate to decrease the file size.

Please use the free MediaInfo and post a screenshot the properties of your media in tree view:

Many users are having issues with VFR. If the file is variable frame rate, use Hand brake to convert to constant frame rate:

How do I point MediaInfo to a specific timeline of clip? Or, is that self-explanitory?
Also, I have not had this issue in the many months since I purchased my Samsung S21. Could something like yesterday's security update changed something?
Thank you.

assuming you know:
source monitor shows current clip from source directory ( HD etc.).
Program monitor shows whats on timelime.
when i pick in out points from source I do it in steps.
pick stuff, drag into timeline. Now if I add new in out points on same source monitor of course it has to delete previous in out points, cause you're basically starting over again. Like a new play in a football game.
jump to timeline a little bit ( arrow keys to clips) and play to just make sure you got portion of source you want from that clip in that place ( timeline to tell story ).

I do know that, and I do that. However, could the addition of in and out points in the source monitor be the reason the clips have a yellow fx symbol (though I haven't added any effects) that turns black and grey when I go past the warning and start to add key frames, and turns back to yellow when I add them?
Thank you.

The yellow FX symbol means that one of the static effects on the clip (That ones that are always there) has been changed. Maybe you have the preference set to automatically set footage to match teh dimensions of the Sequence?

Hi there,
We're sorry for the experience. Have you considered resetting the preferences? https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-discussions/faq-how-to-reset-trash-preferences-in-premie...
Let us know the outcome. We'll look into this.

Shivangi

Thank you all for your help.
For now, I've found a workaround: apparantly I can transfer video from my phone to Pictures and then into Premiere Pro without a problem. It was only when I transferred it to a custom location that I retained audio but not video. Weird. I'm fine with this until I figure out what's going on elsewhere.
Also, with regard to the text overlay being reduced to one letter, I just went back and checked everything and fixed any problems before I exported the video. Again, it's an acceptable work-around for me, until I figure out the root causes.
Thanks again for your helpful insight.
