I have been editing a video for weeks, today my laptop went to sleep whilst i went for lunch. When i came back half of my project timeline was missing and there are no autosaves to roll back to.
Is there any way i can get my work back?

You have probably by mistake closed the timeline. The timeline can be found in the Project panel and if you don´t find it, type sequence in the find box and all your timelines will be there. When you find it, double click on it to open it again.
If you set the Project panel to List View it´s easier to visually locate it.

i can still see my timeline, just half of my sequence randomly disappeared. So i still have half of my video, but have also lost about 3 weeks worth of work

O.k, got it!
You may have by mistake deleted the media on the timeline. Its easy to do and you wont get any warning such as "Are you sure...?". Don´t you have any backup of the project file you can restore?

No, without backups it´s impossible.
A tip is to not rely on auto save and make a habit of taking manual backups such as File > Save a Copy now and then during the lifetime of a project. That has saved me and many other from disasters. Too late now, but till next time it´s good to have. 🙂
