Every month i have to make two short 30 sec videos, where some parts are changed each month, and some parts stay the same.

One video is 16:9 ratio, the second is 9:16. I make the first video in a 16:9 1080 timline. I then make the second in 9:16 timeline. But each month, i have to copy/paste the swapped out/ new photos etc from the 16:9 timeline and then add them to the 9:16 timeline and re-size/shape to fit this new aspect ratio. (NB: the same 'permanent' parts of both videos are in repeated in both timelines, but in the 9:16 timeline, the permanent parts have been pre-made to fit the 9:16 ratio).

My question is, is there a way of having the two timlines set up where when i add the new content to the 16:9 timeline, it automatically adds this new content to the 9:16 timeline, but re-framed/sized to the 9:16 ratio?

Hi diz_qo,

Thanks for the message. Have you checked out Auto-Reframe? It should do what you want. Documentation for that is here: https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/auto-reframe.html

Try it and let us know if it worked for you.

Thanks,
Kevin

The documentation says re-frame doesn't work for still images. I also forgot to mention that to create the 2nd 9:16 timeline, i have to copy/paste 're-framed' video edits from an older/existing 9:16 timeline, that are specially made to fit the 9:16 timeline/ aspect ratio. ++ Both timelines include footage that has text burnt in(altho theoretically i could have all the text as text overlays in the timeline).

Btw here's one version of the 9:16 video on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/reel/593566652624399

Looks cool. When it comes to repurposing projects from widescreen to portrait aspect ratio, I found that I have to redo a lot of work to make it look satisfactory. You could create two sets of presets and get the work done faster rather than futzing with other methods. I have seen some of those bands, BTW. I'm that old. LOL.

Thanks,
Kevin

Ha! I'm that old too.... Anyhow... If possible, could you explain what you mean by two sets of presets?

You know, presets for animating the same size graphics in 16:9 and other ones built for 9:16. Once you've standardized the image sizes. the animation presets you create can be used again and again. I like to prep all the sitll images in Photoshop prior to importing to Premiere Pro as sometimes the art work is not always the same size. Let me know if this idea works. Do you need help with creating presets or standardizing image frame sizes? Let me know.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin. Sorry to take up more of your time, but would be good to know what you mean by presets or standardizing image frame sizes. I can see in Premiere there is a presets section, but i haven't really investigated what i can do with it.

Screenshot 2023-03-30 at 1.00.16 PM.pngHi,

For sure, no problem. Just create an animation in the Effect Controls tab. Then, right-click on the Motion category and choose to "Save Preset...". Name the preset and it will be stored in the Presets bin. You can then use the preset on any file you like. If the file dimensions are identical, then the animation will be consistent. Does that make sense?

Let me know if you need added details or instructions.

Thanks,

Kevin
