In CS5.5, the zoom in or out is in the bottom left corner of the timeline. Where is the darn thing in CS6? I see nothing at the bottom left.
CTRL doesn't modify the behavior. Shift will make it zoom faster, and ALT will make it scroll backwards.

Try "+", "-" and "\"

The zoom and the scroll bar have unfortunately been combined.

Which is why, when you want to zoom in and out with the wheel on your mouse,it is easier if you hover over the scroll bar. Just for fun, check out what happens when you scroll as you press the Ctrl, Shift or Alt keys.

Okay, I cannot get the Ctrl to do anything. What is it supposed to do?

Sorry. I didn't mean to be confusing. I was referring to more than the timeline zoom. Ctrl changes what you are scrolling if the cursor is over the sequence. You change from left and right to up and down.

Simple drag and pull the horizontal slider bar to zoom in. Thanks form http://digimix.us

Hey guys,
Does anyone knows how do I define a keyboard shortcut for zooming in/out of the timeline?

Hi Simanim,
Choose Keyboard Shortcuts > Application > Sequence > Zoom In/Zoom Out.
Thanks,
Kevin

I have the same problem as simanim.
I've set the up/down keys to zoom in and out, but they just pan across the timeline...

My suggestion is use command + and command - for zooming height of clips in timeline, and plain old + or - (+ is actually 😃 for zooming in so the clips are longer. I have this set up in Premiere, and it matches After Effects which is nice. Adobe doesn't often ensure their keyboard shortcuts are consistent across their apps, which is baffling.

Thanks for the very helpful and clear answer, Kevin!
I was trying to get the mouse scroll wheel to zoom the Premiere timeline in and out, just as it does in Audition CS6. No luck. Apparently keyboard shortcuts are required, so specifying Z for zoom-in and Shift-Z for zoom-out works quicker than reaching for the - and + keys. [Z had to be reassigned from Zoom tool for this purpose.]

I personally zoom in and out quite a bit
alt + cmd + K opening up keyboard layout
(Me personally) --- Using D as Zoom in and S as out
(Close to A which is all timeline select/Move and the basic V and C cut and scroll keys)
Hope this helps!
I am a director so most editors will love the fact that my cutting knowledge extends to only three or four basic hot keys! 🙂

In Final Cut 7 you could, if I remember correctly, use command + for zooming in and common - for zooming out, way much faster and easier than having to scroll back and forth with knob under the timeline. Does this option exist in Premiere Pro cc ?
