On a Mac with 10.12.4, Premiere Pro CC 2017.1 11.1.0 (222)
No matter which typeface or effects I use it seems like the resolution of the graphics (using the new tool) in the Program monitor during playback is very poor. It's a lot like when you set the video playback quality to "1/4" -- blurry on playback, sharp when stopped. The render is fine. Legacy title tiles don't exhibit this behaviour.
Is there a new setting for graphics playback quality that I'm missing?
Thanks!

Hi Andrew -
We turn off anti-aliasing during non-high-quality playback to get better performance. Right now, there is not a separate control for this - you have to use the playback quality setting. A good feature request would be to make this a separately switchable option.

I just noticed this myself, plus it stumbles, slows down, and will not show the intro to the new title on my speedy machine.
Not a fan so far.

You're right. I took some screen shots during playback. At full-resolution playback, the new title isn't very sharp:

Old title is better:

At 1/2-resolution playback, the new title is worse:

The old titler still looks better at half-resolution:

I don't have an answer. For now, log it as a bug: Feature Request/Bug Report Form

Hi,
Thanks for the confirmations of the issue. I've submitted it as a bug. I continue to experience it, and haven't found a setting or workaround for it.

Right click the program monitor and select "High Quality Playback." The text quality will match that of pause/final render. As to other's issues with lag and such, not much help there I would imagine.

Actually, I am using CC2018 on a PC and even when the text is rendered out for final output, there IS a difference between the output of the Legacy Title tool and the new Titler. The Legacy is smoother with less anti-aliasing. I put the same copy on the same timeline using both the Legacy Titler and new Title tool to compare the two. I believe you will find the same results.
