Hi there - just updated to 25.1 and am running into an annoying new feature that I'd like to turn off. When I place a marker on the timeline, it automatically opens a new settings window for that marker. I've looked for a setting to turn this off, but am having no luck so far. I don't always need to add additional info to a marker, and so far this window pop-up is more annoying than useful. Is there any setting to turn this off that I'm just not finding? Thanks.
Hi @Siah_Clark – how are you adding the marker? What you're describing is not a new feature, there is no change in Premiere Pro 25.1 about adding a marker always opening the Edit Marker dialog.
The default keyboard shortcut is "M" which will add the marker, then if you press "M" again it will open the Edit Marker dialog. Is it possible the keyboard or input device you're using is hitting "M" twice?

Hi Matt, it's not the device; I just tested the same keyboard after unplugging and replugging, as well as testing a different keyboard. Still happening. I am pressing M once to add a marker, not twice.

@Siah_Clark Thanks for letting me know. Are you on Windows or Mac? And, are you using a custom keyboard shortcut preset? If so I'm curious if you try switching back to the "Adobe Premiere Pro Default", does it still happen?

@mattchristensen I'm on Windows. You were right about the custom keyboard shortcuts - switching to default shortcuts solved the problem. I also added a new custom shortcut for adding a marker to my saved preset, and can leave a marker without opening the dialogue. Is the option to press M twice located in the keyboard shortcuts menu? If so I'm not finding it. Perhaps I could just change that specific shortcut. This has only started happening today, after the 25.1 update.

@Siah_Clark No, there's no functionality in the keyboard shortcuts in Pr to simulate double presses or anything like that. I'm not sure how you could have a keyboard preset that would cause this to happen, I just suggested trying the default again as a test.
In your pre-existing custom keyboard preset, search for "Edit Marker" and you'll see the command. Is it mapped to any keys?

Hi Matt, just following up after being away over the holiday. As you can see in this thread, I'm not the only one having this issue, and it strangely seems to be attached to the M key specifically for some reason. Affecting users on both PC and Mac. Should this be made into a bug report, or how do we proceed? Issue is still happening for me and the others in this thread.

So I locked all my tracks and hit play while adding markers. The edit marker window did not open but did leave to markers on every single press. I also tested my keyboard presses with another app and there was no indication of two presses.

Hi,
I'm facing the same issue on the latest PR version (25.1.0) and it's indeed extremely annoying. And I'm on a Mac.
Just found a workaround reading this!
At yes, it does not appear once I add the marker shortcut to the standard keyboard setting, but starting of from good old days Final Cut Shortcuts.
Also appointing a special color marker does not help. Unfortunately all colors (add red/green/yellow...) markers are matched to the directly opening settings window.
It actually seems to be something about the M button.
Trying starting on Avid Shortcuts it moves my clip to the left, so apparently here the assigned function doesn't take function at all. Thought it might be an AVID thing, but....
So I set Add Marker to a different free button - C in Avid, and G in my FCP based shortcuts.
Both work fine!
So this really needs to be fixed for the programming on the M button.
Until then (we) should go on a different button. It works for me at least.

This is happening for me also. I've tried your work around by switching to Avid keyboard layout and adding C as the add marker key. This stills open the marker edit menu on single press. I never knew losing a simple add marker button could be so frustrating.

(sorry longtime passed... )
did you try any different key? Or - as me starting on FCP on a different key (e.g.G)? Any key that works fine reassigning to anything. And yes. If not even work around, that's extremely frustating nad the menue is damn annoying..
