type isn't displaying background video

I am not sure what is going on with my Premier Pro. I have created a video, and from the tool panel, I selected the type tool to put a layer of text on my video. It is directly above my background video, yet it still displays a black background. In the effects settings for that 'type clip', it does not have a background set (the checkbox is empty). The clip is in the layer directly above the main background video clip. What am I missing? I just made a video 3 days ago and didn't have this issue.
I'm on a PC, running PPro v. 14.9 (updated 11 days ago).

So here the sequence. It was showing everything fine until I did some time remapping.
What is weird, is I made a second sequence, in the same project, same settings, and it appears correctly.
Steps I went to make the clips.
1) Imported raw video files.
2) Created a sequence from the video file I wanted to use. Used warp stabilizer.
3) Placed the saved sequence file (w/warp stabilizer effect). Then did the time remapping.
4) Added Logo as a png. Resized and placed above video clip. This is when the error started to occur.
5) Added text from the type tool. No background selected, but the background is black - the background video clip does not show.
Things I have tried. Deleting and adding the logo source. I have tried nesting the time remapped sequence. Nothing has worked. I dont' know why one is working over the other.
