Unable to Drop Files into Premier Pro Windows 11

Hi there,

I am unable to drop files into the Project section of Premier Pro. I have just started a course on how to use it and this is a pretty basic step. I get a red circle with a line through it when I attempt to drop the files. I have uninstalled Premier Pro itself and reinstalled it to no avail.

You should not drag and drop, bad habit.

Go up to file > import and navigate to the files you want to use.

You posted this question in the wrong forum, this is the Captivate forum.

I will move it to the PP forum.

The most common user error is not source patching the track.
Solved by first opening clip in Source Monitor. Then drag/insert into timeline.

Hi Ann,

Thanks for the reply I really appreciate it. However, I am quite a rookie when it comes to Premier Pro, I'm not too sure what is displayed in the picture above. Can this section be found in Premier Pro itself?

That should work easy enough. I get circle/red when hovering over different panels, but it works just fine when I hover over the project panel. Win11 also. Are you hovering over the Project panel, not the timeline.

There's still something wrong with your system if you can't drop files in. (Some of us still do). If you don't mind setting your user preferences back to default, you can start pp holding down shift and it will give you that option. Start it with a normal icon (ie: not a project you are working on) and then start a brand new project and see if you can drop in an mp4 or such.
