So after hours of trouble shooting a delays in productivity I came acrosss this video which fixed the exact problem.  What I don't understand is why I have to turn off my audio input in the audio hardware setting for this issue to go away.  The You Tubee video is 3 years old and it is still an issue.  The audio hardware is a Creative XR sound card btw.  https://youtu.be/Bnxkiq0zlao?si=ZxT4Fc4BIiQ57Ww1

We'd need a lot more specifics, to provide a meaningful answer.

Did the same project perform great, in 24.4?

Other than updating PPro to 24.5, what else about your system has changed, since playback didn't lag on this system?

Do you experience the lag with every piece of media, or just some?

I've seen some mention of this, but I don't think it's a particular PP issue, it's working fine here.

I've never seen that 1/4 playback mode actually help, I think you should set it back to Full. Set both options to Full and Check, High Quality Playback.

It's one of those strange things that 'fixes' multiple very oddities. I don't think you are missing anything now.

Hello!

Not sure if any issues regarding Windows 11 being buggy with PP apply to this thread, but I just got a new machine with Windows 11 and PP seems to be buggy as ever.
My new PC is equipped with:
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-14900K 3.20 GHz
Installed RAM 128 GB (128 GB usable)
Device ID 4C9A2F89-31C7-4072-AD20-71C3308DEE77
Product ID 00329-00000-00003-AA986
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Not too bad right? Had to fight hard for this new machine at work after dealing with another device that was also Windows 11 and it too couldn't handle PP (but had far less power than my new machine). We finally got a machine that can handle video. Still, each time I begin to edit (basic stuff as I begin a project) I will attempt to playback, and PP will freeze, display that pesky (Not Responding) message in the upper corner, then eventually get to it, and play. Still, it has happened repeatedly so far and makes productivity suffer as I edit. Just got this machine last week, so I don't think it's the machine as much as Windows 11 and PP not playing well. Or it senses I am a Mac person when I do my personal work and it's plotting against me.

Is anyone else running into this? Is there a simple fix like the one used in this video with some weird audio setting (that would be amazing!)?

Any help is welcome here.
