Using I and o. Points

Explorer ,
Jan 10, 2023 Jan 10, 2023

I am new to premiere pro and in a documentary film, making class where we have gone over using in and out points to delete selected segments out of the timeline. Every time I do it, I put in the i and o points, I see the highlighted area, and when I hit option delete, my whole timeline disappears. Since I have to cut down a 45 minute interview to four minutes, I would really appreciate someone's help with this. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks very much for your feedback. I discovered that the quotes key did the trick!

Patricia,

I think the keystroke you are looking for is Shift+Del.

Or look for Edit -> Ripple Delete.

Or Edit -> Keyboard shortcuts.
