I'm getting extremely slow imports with WAV files into my project. No matter which way I import a WAV, it takes up to 20 seconds to import one file. Premiere freezes and shows the busy icon the entire time.
My system:
Windows 10
Intel i7-5960X @ 3ghz
32gb RAM
OS drive: Corsair 240gb SSD
Project drive: 7.2gb RAID 0 on 2x4tb WD Black Drives
Any ideas on why this is happening?

Seems to be any file type. Any import takes 10-20 seconds.
Is no one else getting this?

Same here!

Yes! Really hoping for a fix!

Also seems like the bigger the project, the longer the wait. My wait time is now 15-20 mins. For any type of file import.

This can happen when video card drivers are not updated (and sometimes when it is updated to a new--more "buggy" version). Importing WAV files--Premiere has to generate Peak files to display the waveforms in the timeline, source window, etc. This can take a long time with larger projects--but should not be happening on smaller ones. I have a system that has pretty much all the specs yours has and my wav files are coming in very quickly--here are some things to try:
There could be other things--but this is a good start. Good Luck!

Cleared my unused media cache, installed the very latest NVidia drivers, restarted Premiere... Exact same problem. Why should I be surprised that a CC release has horrible bugs?

did you clear media cache before opening premiere? it could be stuck in a peak file generation loop.
try importing your old project into a new one.

Imported the project into a new one. Imports are still slow, but seem not as slow as the other older project.
Importing one image file (TIF) into a project on my very speedy machine should be near instantaneous (like it was in all previous versions!).
Sigh.
I upgraded to the latest version because I really wanted to use the new Essential Sound interface (showcased by Adobe at NAB2017). Should have realized that it would lobotomize my work-flow in other more significant ways.

I've got the same issue here. Importing any file, audio, stills, or footage, causes the machine to beach ball for a few minutes before everything goes back to normal.

Anyone get any solution suggestions or workarounds from Adobe?

Although I'm having the same problem running footage from my NAS (via 1GB ethernet). I notice that the problem is a lot less acute when I import files stored locally. I mean... a LOT less slow.
It's not a solution but it might be a clue as the underlying issue. I'm running a very fast Windows 10 machine and have everything up-to-date. So please none of the usual "have you turned it off and on again" suggestions from support please!
This issue has suddenly arisen with the latest CC update - it's a bug!!

Same problem here. I'm doing the editing for a TV show and just dragging 10 clips into the bin takes some minutes after the progress bar is done. I know that this was a stupid thing to do, upgradin to a new version but please, we need some updates as soon as possible.

Same issue here! I thought It may be because I'm importing from a network drive (with 10GbE connection), but I tested locally and the same issue persists. What gives?!

Having the same issue and it doesn't matter what file format it is audio, video codec etc. I tested both on local storage and network same result. This wasn't an issue until moving to the latest version. I have several edit systems all with the same issue all running Windows 10.

Does anyone have a workaround for this mess?

No one from Adobe? This is as real and as horrible as it seem guys! I was the one fighting to make the switch to the Adobe environment from Avid and now everybody is mocking me for this. Thank you very much for this Adobe...

Well I just found out that Adobe Support simply closed my ticket abruptly after telling me a few weeks back that a representative would follow up on the case with me.

So frustrating. Windows 10, 64 Ram, 10 cores, 10 TB internal raid....
Come on Adobe. Please help!

Please submit bug report. I have done it, and maybe make reference to this thread so they can gather more info. Anyone from Adobe reading here?

There is a new update available for Premiere and I installed it. So far I am seeing better importing response. But it is still early

I'm happy to report that the bug has been fixed for me since updating to 2017.1.1 v11.0

It seems snappier on my machine also. I've seen however a small lag while importing some audio files... so I have to keep checking before a final statement.

It didn't seem to change anything on my end. I'm seeing 20 mins+ lag. Import progress bar fills normal speed but once it's full, I get the spinning rainbow wheel and the app registers as "Not Responding". If I wait patiently, it does finish importing eventually anf the app comes back to life.
