What does it take to load up a project

Whenever I open up Premiere and load a saved project - does it have to load all the clips into RAM ?

Just wondering how to speed up the process.. since I thought once the media previews and cache are rendered for the first time, subsequent opens are almost instantenious.

Which is not the case for me..

Premiere does not load up in ram.

Depending on how much footage is used in the project.

It needs time to open the project.

The project file is loaded into RAM.  The media is 'read' from the hard drive in real time as necessary.

What is your media being read from? It should load up faster if it's read from a SSD vs a spinning hard drive, which is much slower. Premiere will also launch quicker if it's on a SSD along with your OS.
