What is the 'mix' audio track and can I remove it?

I'm just finishing up a project and cleaning up where possible.

I notice that there is an audio track called 'mix' with a single line - no wave.

Should I remove this track and is so how?

It used to be called the Master Track.

What does the mix track do in Premiere Pro?
You use the Audio Clip Mixer when you need to change the levels of individual clips on a clip-by-clip basis. You use the Audio Track Mixer when you need to change the levels of audio on a track basis, and this is ideal when you don't need the changes to travel with the clips.

Are you familiar at all with setting track viewing/height presets in the Timeline panel?

There is no way to hide the Mix track. A longtime feature request.

Yes, I know I can minimize the height and also lock it. However, I'd prefer to hide it or not have it at all.
