What Update Of OS and Creative Cloud Is The Most Compatible For My Computer Specs?

Hello,

I am a professional video editor that has been running the 2017 Premiere Pro CC on OSX Yosemite 10.10.5 for the past few years and everything works great. The problem is that I updated my iPhone to IOS 13 and am basically being forced to update my OS. My question is what update of OS and Creative Cloud is the most compatible/not buggy that works with my computer specs? Thanks!

MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012)

Processor – 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5

Memory – 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Graphics – Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB

I've been sticking with High Sierra.  I have one laptop running Catalina mainly for the purpose of getting used to it.  There are some things I really like about macOS Catalina and somethings I don't.

You should be fine with Premiere Pro CC2019 or CC2020 under macOS High Sierra (10.13), macOS Mojave (10.14) or macOS Catalina (10.15).  I'm holding out with High Sierra for as long as possible for full QuickTime support at the Finder level for as long as a I can.

While your MacBook Pro supports Catalina, Premiere Pro doesn't' support the Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB for using Metal for video rendering and playback.  As such, your projects will "Software Only".  (It would need to be the Intel HD Graphics 5000 or 6000 to enable Metal.)

Do you have bootable back up of your current Macintosh HD?  If not, I'd take the time to create one and then go ahead on upgrade to Premiere Pro 2020 under macOS Catalina 10.15.

Have you upgraded the internal dive to a SSD?   That's defineately worth doing (and easy enough to do yourself as long as you have the correct screw driver.)

Thanks so much for your advice! I don't have a bootable drive nor have I
updated my internal drive, but will do ASAP. I definitely don't want to
update to Catalina yet. Would you recommend High Sierra or Mojave?
