When I save a project file onto an external hard drive, will the project still open alright?

I have to delete everything on my Mac and sign up for a new Creative Cloud subscription under another name, but I don't want to lose my projects in Premiere Pro. Would this process work: I'm going to save the project files, autosave files, and files for linked footage onto an external hard drive. Then I will clear my Mac and re-install Adobe Creative Cloud under a new name and subscription. Then when I access the project files on my external hard drive, once relinking the footage, it will all be there. Will this work? Or will some things not transfer through, or it won't open properly?

Hi hqlmes,

I'm going to save the project files, autosave files, and files for linked footage onto an external hard drive.

The best and the suggested way is to do this in the Project Manager.

Will this work?

Premiere Pro projects are not backward compatible. So make sure that you open your project in the same version or in the latest version of Premiere Pro.

Thanks,

Kulpreet Singh
