Why do text .mogrt's preview like garbage in the timeline?

I downloaded these text animation mogrt presets and they are almost useless for how seemingly impossible it is to preview them on the timeline. I have an i9-9900k wih 32 gb RAM. if I dare try and move the CTI over the clip, I get the spinning cursor as the app looks like it's about to crash.

You might try lowering the resolution of the displayed clip (1/4, 1/2, etc.) -- it won't affect the final product, just how you see it while editing.

Was one of the first things I tried, literally made zero difference.
