Why does the sound go away when copying a 44100 file and adding it to a 48000?

I'm working on a project in audio recorded at 48000.  I have a file from another camera with audio recorded at 44100 that I would like to add to the main timeline.

When I first import the track into a working timeline I can hear the audio.  When I cut the section that I want to use and copy and paste it into the main timeline, the audio no longer plays.  And when I go back to the working timeline, none of the audio plays there anymore.

Any ideas of what may be happening here?
