Hi ,
This is a Two Part Question, On the older version of Premiere Pro like Cs5 when i would select a section on the Timeline thats in red i would hit "ENTER"
and it would start to render the effects on the clip so it would be watchable how do i set that function up verses having to go to sequence
and the last question is , when i select a section to render its only rendering some of the Timeline, instead of rending the whole section i have highlighed
Thanks In advance for any help
Much appreciated
For your last question, don't select anything in the timeline. While in the timeline panel (i.e. sequence on the timeline) press Enter.
I didn't answer your first question because I'm not sure what you are asking. The only way I render is by having the clip in the timeline in a sequence.
When I am referring to "render" I do not mean "export. I assume you are saying the same thing.

Hi mrrap4food,
If you could attach a screenshot of your Timeline, that would be helpful.

I think you don't have to set it up as the Enter key is defaulted to Render Effects In to Out [As long as you've not enabled the Work Area Bar].
and the last question is , when i select a section to render its only rendering some of the Timeline, instead of rending the whole section i have highlighed
If your selection has a yellow render bar & a red render bar, selecting Render Effects In to Out would only render the effects within the selection and the red render bar would turn green while the yellow render bar still stays. I think that's what is happening.
If you want to render the yellow render bar too, select Render In to Out.
Hope this helps.

Dont think CS5 has Render in to out. Its all about Work Area.
Render Effects In Work Area,
Renders the sections of the video tracks lying within the work area containing a red render bar. Alternatively, press Enter.
Render Entire Work Area
Renders the sections of the video tracks lying within the work area containing either a red render bar or a yellow render bar.
Render Audio
Renders a preview file for the sections of the audio tracks lying within the work area.

If you have an older computer, it is possible that adding certain effects will prevent you from getting smooth playback to preview your work, so in that case you may need/want to render the timeline. But keep in mind there is never any requirement to "render" the timeline prior to exporting your video - it all gets done at that point anyway, going straight from the source format to export format.
I've been lucky to have fast editing machines and very rarely ever render anything in the timeline, as even red-bar areas usually play just fine for me.

Hi Ann,
Thanks for the correction there!
I assumed the OP is looking for a similar set up in a newer version of Premiere Pro.

i am having the same problem with red timeline. I have 1-open new project and exported the sequence, no luck, I have nested, no luck, I have open a new timeline. I have exported to encoder and it will not render it. what is going on. I have clicked off different layer one by one and tried to render ...no go.
