Why won't the waveform show?? I've tried everything.

I'm editing footage today and need the audio waveforms to be visible. I've tried already and none of these work:

1. Clicking on Timeline Display Settings wrench and making sure that "Show Audio Waveform" is turned on. It already was.

2. Clip > Generate Audio Waveform, and it doesn't change at all.

3. Preferences > Audio > Automatic Audio Waveform Generation (this was already checked).

What else am I missing there? And is there a reason it's blue versus green? It's the original audio from the clip, not a voiceover, by the way.

Thanks!

Maybe something is wrong with creating peak file.

To test this, just copy sourse file, rename with some unique name and import again. If in Premiere you see generated waveform, it is sure that something is wrong with peak file and there's different reason for this (maybe you have import previously file with same name).

If this is the case, you can force premiere to generate again waveform for this specific file.

Just had this happen intermittently on a very complex 3 hr timeline.  Select a clip without a waveform in the timeline, right click and choose "make offline" (make sure you don't delete the media which is an option) and then right click and choose "link media."    Fixed it for me...
