Working with Proxies and syncing smart slate audio

I can't seem to find anything online on how to do this, which seems like a basic need on most projects.

I have 4k Alexa footage, and separate audio files.

I want to sync the sound, but be able to work with proxies.

I sync'd the audio using the create multicam option, then I merged the new clip.

I understand proxies do not work with merged clips.

I am also seeing that proxies do not work with multicam sequences.

How do I sync my audio and still be able to edit using proxies?

Once you sync with multicam you don't need Merged Clips. I know a lot of editors like that idea but it has many drawbacks (as you've discovered). The multicam clips live in the bins just like a merged clip would, plus it retains the master timecode of the original media (which you'll definitely want if you send out for finishing). You can flatten he multicams in your sequences at any time.

You can create/attach proxies with the original media at any time; the multicams will respect the proxy switch setting.
