XMP file not supported

New Here ,
Feb 23, 2022 Feb 23, 2022

Hi,

I recently added metadata to my video clips in premiere pro (.MTS - AVCHD). I used the file section in the metadata pannel. The data I added was information such as Scene, Shot Number, Take, etc from the dynamic media section.

This created .xmp files next to my original video clips in finder.  I believe these are called sidecar files.

Now when I import the video clips (and the .xmp files) into a new PP project, none of the metadata I entered is imported and I receive a error message (for the xmp files) saying the file type is not supported. I have tried draging and dropping the files into premiere and via File>Import.

Any suggestions of things I could try?

You don't need to import the .xmp file with the video clips...just import the video clips and Premiere pro should display the metadata from the .xmp file
