Zooming on Timeline jumping in Premiere Pro on MAC

When I try to zoom in on individual clips in the timeline using Alt + Mouse Scroll, the zoom behavior is erratic. The zoom jumps around, often zooming in completely on the timeline. I am using a Logitech MX 3 mouse.

However, when I use the side scroll wheel of the mouse, the zoom works as expected with no issues.

I’m confident that the issue is not with the mouse itself, as I’ve tested it with a different mouse and the same problem persists. This issue has been present in previous versions of Premiere Pro as well.

Please let me know if you need additional information.

Hello @Rach McIntire,
thank you for your fast respond, here are the informations:

Issue - Zooming on Timeline jumping in Premiere Pro on MAC
Adobe Premiere Pro version number: v25.0 but also in every updates in v24.0

System Info: CPU, GPU, RAM, HD:

CPU: Apple M1 chip
8-core CPU with 4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores

8-core GPU

16-core Neural Engine

RAM: 8gb

Hard Drive (and, if external, how the drive is connected: USB 3, Thunderbolt, NAS, etc.).

512GB SSD
Mouse: Logitech MX Master 3

Video format: XAVC-I 4:2:2 10-bit and 4:2:0 8-bit

Workflow details: It happens on every sequence all the time.

Steps to reproduce - Open Premiere pro, create new project, create new sequence, try to zoom in to the timeline. Also when try to move with scroll furhter or backwards in timeline, starts normally but suddenly jumps on totally zoomed in the timeline. Where i can see frames of a clip.

Expected result - Smooth zoom in, smooth scroll

Actual result - jumping zoom and scroll.

Hi @Ferenc Dániel27645514h493 - Just to confirm you are selecting Command + Mouse Scroll correct? Can you try navigating to your preferences under Timeline and set Timeline Playback Auto-Scrolling to "No Scroll" and let us know if that helps your issue?

HI @Ferenc Dániel27645514h493 - Do you have Logitech software installed that is interacting with Premiere Pro?

"my mouse has a side scroller too, thats working good."

What is the difference between your middle scroll whell and your side scroll?

Thanks for the suggestions, Ylbsi. Ferenc Dániel27645514h493, if you have the Logitech app installed, can you confirm if setting the scroll speed fixes the issue for you?
