CinemaDNG

Premiere Pro does not properly support CinemaDNG media. For starters, not all versions can be imported, specifically the media coming from the Blackmagic Ursa cameras.

But even for the versions that can be imported, support for the format is still lacking to the point of unusability.

The Media Browser will not see all the clips at the same time. We're forced to go into every individual clip folder for import duties. This is untenable.

The RAW controls available are limited to Temp, Tint and Exposure. The controls that are possible and must be implemented are:

White Balance
Color Space
Gamma
ISO
Color Temp
Tint
Exposure
Sharpness
Highlights
Shadows
Color Boost
Saturation
Midtone Detail
Lift
Gain
Contrast

Finally, because we do not have access to the Color Space or Gamma, the footage comes in with a preset "LUT" applied, making the original Log footage unusable.

Also happy to vote and comment on all topics for support of compressed CinemaDNG, I'm actually shocked that Adobe products don't yet support it.

Ive just spent the whole night trying to color CDNG Raw Lossless files but they were completely mangled up by Premiere upon import.Thought it was my cameras sensor that had a problem shooting RAW.I read somewhere that Resolve handles Blackmagic Cinema DNG RAW files properly - so I quickly downloaded it and imported the RAW files...AMAZING.The color rendition is so accurate just by dropping the BMRec709 Lut on it didnt even do any color tweaking, now it feels like I have to learn a new software all over again if I want the benefit of properly utlising RAW files from my Blackmagic Ursa Mini 4.6k.Its a shame as Im a big believer in Adobe. They should really work on CDNG usage and handling the RAW files color science properly otherwise there will be a MAJOR shift to Davinci Resolve considering its FREE.Also th fact that I cant open compressed RAW formats like 3:1 or 4:1 is utterly ridiculous in 2018.Praying the next updates solve these issues!

Just like in AE when you import a DNG files you can use the adobe camera raw function, that would be incredibly helpful to use with Premiere CC as well

Totally agree and using "Replace with After Effects Composition" means AE only opens up a single frame not the whole sequence. Making Dynamic Link useless for anyone using cinema DNG to edit with. For now I will continue to XML to Resolve who now have Fusion inside the software. This project will be the last for me in Premier if we can't get support for this format properly.

Yes we need support for this. Premiere "Pro" doesn't support "Pro" media.

Premiere "Pro" needs to support this professional media. I may have to switch to Davinci if I get the Sigma FP.

Please fix this. I'm having to install Davinci Resolve just to do one F*%king timelapse, turns out it's not a bad NLE.

Either improve DNG or just support raw files from all major mirrorless camera brands. (I use Fuji).

How does an Adobe video application NOT support a raw standard that Adobe itself created years ago?

It's like if Apple iPhones weren't compatible with iTunes.

It's not possible to use cDNG footage from the Sigma fp in Premiere CC. I use Davinci Resolve where it works seamlessly.

Come on, Adobe!

I'm seeing comments from almost 3 years ago. They don't care.
The ONLY reason I signed up for this was from a class I'm taking.
No reason to be here then.
