Match Frame to Source Sequence

Community Beginner ,
Dec 05, 2023 Dec 05, 2023

When cutting from a Source Sequence, it would be great to be able to match frame to that same frame in the Source Sequence (not to the original clip).

For example, if I have a series of 20 resets in my source, and I am not sure which one I used in the cut, all I need to do is use this 'FIND FRAME IN SOURCE SEQ' command to take me exactly to that point. Then I can see what else I might want to use and try that as an alt.

Sure, I could do that from the original clip but:

- then I'd have to get back to the source sequence.

- I also wouldn't have a way of marking things on the Source Sequence (which is the whole point of stringouts)

I came back to this thread for updates on that idea and by the same time, added another idea to the selects / stringout workflow that might interest fellow editors on this thread. See the idea here : Enable Multi-Camera view for sequences opened as Source Sequence

Update: Today I published Automation Blocks 1.1.000. In the new version Automation Blocks tools can be launchen in all kinds of ways, using keyboard shortcuts, external devices like StreamDeck, your phone (using Touch Portal), or other software running on your machine.

See here for details:

https://docs.mamoworld.com/automation-blocks/remoteExecution/

The keyboard shortcuts are a bit of work to set up (using Auto Hotkey on Windows or Automoator of Keyboard Mastro on Mac). But it comes with the additional benefit that Automation Blocks can now also be triggered with all kinds of other methods, too.

I was about to start a new thread with this same idea. Commenting to this back bump up.

Would love to see this implemented as part of Premiere instead of needing pluggins that make us jump through hoops in order to achieve it. Hopefully we can see this soon.

Don't forget, it's the number at the top of the post, via a computer it's on the upper left. Upvote that number for a feature to get some traction.

It would be nice to have this in the app, but having it in Excalibur is already a massive boon to me - I love it.
