Reorder / Rearrange Video and Audio Tracks

It would be amazing to simply grab a track and move it up or down in the order of the sequence. This was something I could do easily back when I used Vegas Pro. Occasionally, I have big, complex sequences and would like to reorder the tracks for organization purposes or for shipping off to audio master. Thanks!

Would be nice to be able to create a new V track between two existing tracks easily

I also can't believe that this isn't a feature in Premiere already!

Looks like Adobe could learn a lot from Vegas Pro 🙂

I don't think I've ever used a track-based editor (music, video, or otherwise) that didn't have this functionality. Seems like a must have for me, especially since Multicam cameras can't be renamed and the only sane alternative is to move the track ordering...

It's just mind boggling that a professional video editing software like Premiere does not have such a basic feature. It's hard to believe. Adobe Audition multi-track audio editor has it, so it is somehow an assumption that Premiere would have it. I'm shocked! ...and based on a quick google search, people have been requesting this for years.

This would definitely be a huge time-saver. As-is, we need to select everything on a track but only on that one track, then move that to a different track ... not always the easiest thing to do in complex sequences.

So important in order to create an immersive mix. When everything is scattered across the timeline, it's hard to make sense of it and we often blame the software for being non-intuitive when its the lack of ability to organize at fault.

PLEASE integrate this option! It's so insanely basic and has largely been a deal breaker for me in migrating to PP from Vegas. Being forced to stack all video up here and all audio down there frustrates and slows down how I work on a project. Let me build my own preferred workspace!!

This is such a basic function. Who decided to use this ridiculous stack method, where all the videos are stacked on top and audio tracks on the bottom? In what scenario would this stacking method be useful and efficient? I want to understand the logic behind this and maybe I can get some sense of it and try to adjust. If I had 20 tracks, would I have to scroll up to that video track and then scroll all the way back down to the edit the audio? How is this going to work? I just started to using the new PP and I am just staring at my screen now in a middle of a project. Please advise! Thank you.

Thought it was just me being stupid not being able to work out how to do this! After ten minutes of Googling it turns out that reordering tracks is not possible and I saw queries on this going back at least five years.

This is most basic of features which every track-based application (audio and video) I've ever used has supported out of the box! How is this not possible in Premiere Pro in 2019?

If track order didn't have any impact on visibility/layering you could perhaps forgive the oversight. But it does. So it's unforgivable that currently the only solution is to insert a new temporary empty track and use it to shuffle the assets from one track to another.

I am a total newbie to Adobe Premiere and wondered the same. But I think i just solved it by Holding the Ctrl-key while moving a Video or Audio. It then just inserts the content in between the other tracks.

Would be good for someone more familiar to reconfirm, since I am not sure if I understood the question correctly and if comments go back 5 years the solution shouldnt be that obvious^^

I'm relatively new to Premiere ( a FCP holdout) and am really surprised this isn't a feature. I need to split audio tracks and rather than simply add empty tracks where I need them it sounds like I have to rename tracks, move clips and change track output channel assignments. Pretty nuts.
