Hello! I'm here to ask, So I have Adobe Premiere CC 2019 and i Used to use the GPU rendering,

But Suddenly THe GPU Rendering Option was greyed out and it says Software Only. I try to search on Youtube on how to solve this problem.

But it doesnt work, I try like cuda_supported cards, and OpenCL.

The Last time i used the GPU rendering was OpenCL so i tried to put opencl_supported_cards but it still doesn't work.

Screenshot (137).png

My Laptop has:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4210U CPU

NVIDIA GeForce 820M

WIndows 10 64 bit

I tried also in premiere cs6 and tried on Media Encoder cc 2019 but the GPU rendere still greyed out. Please help me! Thanks!

There is absolutely no way at all whatsoever in any Windows version of Premiere Pro. If you have an NVIDIA GPU installed, and it is the only GPU in your system, you cannot enable OpenCL at all without also enabling CUDA. You see, Adobe has permanently disabled OpenCL-only acceleration in all Windows versions of Premiere Pro if an NVIDIA GPU is detected in your PC.

In other words, your GPU is now totally obsolete, in the eyes of both NVIDIA and Adobe. You had been duped when you chose that GeForce

NVIDIA has publicly released windows ODE drivers that support the CUDA 9.2 SDK used in the latest release of Premiere Pro. This is not the Microsoft default driver, but you can download this driver directly from NVIDIA, Version 411.63 (of the 410 series drivers).

If that doesn’t work, try this:

NVIDIA DRIVERS Quadro Desktop/Quadro Notebook Driver Release 410 WHQL

Hi Beast,

Go to below NVidia ling and select your card for downloading updated drivers. Once done restart your machine and relaunch Premiere Pro to check if it helps or not.

I've just checked the GeForce 820M, and (surprise, surprise!) it is actually based on the now-eight-year-old Fermi architecture that debuted in the GeForce 400 series GPUs way back in 2010! And driver support for the entire Fermi series of GPUs has been EOL'd by NVIDIA, outside of archived driver releases, back this past March. What's more, Fermi (including your 820M) lacks hardware support for any CUDA version higher than 8.0 - but CC 2019 REQUIRES hardware CUDA 9.2 or higher support to even use GPU acceleration at all.

As a result, you will have to downgrade to CC 2018 in order to restore GPU acceleration with your 820M. However, keep in mind that that GPU may actually be weaker (slower) than your CPU's integrated graphics (if you have any) for GPGPU (OpenCL, CUDA) operations.

You didn't specify which GPU you do have. This discussion refers to the GT 820m and all other Fermi GPUs that had been made completely obsolete by Nvidia itself in 2018. Nothing will ever fix this. And newer versions of Premiere Pro may not display this warning at all with Fermi GPUs, but will instead simply permanently lock the Mercury Playback Engine (MPE) to the software-only mode (no GPU acceleration at all whatsoever).

The Geforce 820 is becoming out dated. That being said GPU acceleration does help for rendering if there are effects and filters being used. GPU encoding and decoding will help render things super fast if you are using H.264. Keep in mind the AMD and Nvidia GPUs will not support all the variations of H.264/265 but the new Intel CPUs with Quick Sync should. You could dissable GPU acceleration but still enabel GPU encoding and decoding. If things sound confusing the video below might be helpful. That being said you have to make sure your GPU can be used for acceleration as well as encoding and decoding becuase not all GPUs support all the awesome features of Premire Pro.

Not just outdated. Obsolete, in this particular case. The GeForce 820M, although released at the same time as many of the GPUs that were based on the first-gen Maxwell architecture were, is actually based on a GPU architecture that was by that time two full GPU generations old. In fact, the 820M, though released in 2014, is based on a GeForce GT 540M from 2011, which itself was derived from the desktop GeForce GT 430 from the year before.
