I'd like to pick a specific frame from the video I'm working on to be the image showing as the thumbnail after exporting the project > "poster frame"

I know it is possible inside premier, in the project window, but nothing so far for the exported video.

I've searched far and wide and have yet to find an answer ... I can not believe that this is not a feature in a professional program ...

Thank you for your help. Stephan

Setting a Poster Frame in the video file itself requires exporting to a format that supports appending a Poster Frame time index in the file.  Legacy QuickTime formats supported this, allowing you to use the Go to Poster Frame in QuickTime Player or to see the Poster Frame displayed in the Finder.  (Atlhough, you had to set the Poster Frame in QuickTime Player.)

As far as I am aware, that level of Poster Frame control within a video format went away when Apple discontintued QuickTime back in 2013 in favor of AV Foundation Frameworks.

It was a great feature for the few decates that it lasted.

The Publish tab in Premiere Pro and Media Encore has a Custom Thumbnail option for YouTube, but I don't think that's what you're looking for.
