When I open up Premiere Pro, the start screen that is supposed to appear is only a sliver. I have to then enlarge it to go to new project or open project. It's not that hard to do that but I know this is not normal. What am I to do to fix it? Thanks.
I now have it working but think this is the problem.
When I opened Premiere Pro the first time it opened on my right monitor, so I moved it to my left monitor. I then moved the Start box over there also. No problem. When I was done I closed out PP. Then when I opened PP again, the start box would go back to the right monitor but only be the sliver that you saw.
I have found out that if I would resize the start box and just leave it on the right monitor it now opens at a large size and not t

But now it started to happen again. I can't keep doing a reset to get it to work properly. What else can I do?

Here is what is happening. I do the alt when PP starts. It clears the settings and when I restart PP the start new project screen etc. comes up perfectly.
Now I have to go in and redo my scratch disk settings because it does not take it to where I have my fastest drive and where I want my scratch disk.
I change the settings to the drive. I close out and open up and the start screen is a sliver again. What is wrong. I can go in and fix it in a couple of seconds no problem, but I don't want to do that. This is my first experience with Adobe Premiere Pro and I'm sure it's something I may be doing wrong, but WHAT???
I have also even uninstalled and reinstalled PPro. It still does the same thing after setting my scratch disk.

Try updating or rolling back your video driver directly from the video card manufacturer's site.

Hi Ingeborgdot,
That seems to be an issue with the display drivers or with the display resolution.
As suggested by Peru Bob, try updating your display/video drivers. If you are already on latest drivers, rollback to a previous version.
What is your display resolution, any external monitor or external video capturing device connected to your machine?
Please attach a screenshot (of the tiny start up screen). How_do_I_attach_a_screenshot

I did update my driver today and nothing changed. I think I need to explain it a little better but I'm not sure how. The startup screen is a sliver but everything else is fine. PP is fine once I extend the startup screen to its original size it is fine and I go on my way and work.

I haven't seen this issue before and that is certainly not normal. But I am sure this has to do something with the preferences or the corrupt workspace. There is something which is doing this (corrupting the prefs) every time you trash it.
After resetting/trashing the preferences, create a new project (do not open any existing project) and uncheck/disable this option:
To reset prefs, close all of the Adobe processes from the Task Manager and go to the following locations:
Location 1: C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe
Location 2: C:\Users\<Username>\Documents\Adobe
In all the locations, rename the 'Adobe' folders to 'OldAdobe' and launch Premiere Pro, accept the License Agreement.
Note: You will lose your customized workspaces and keyboard shortcuts.
Let me know if that helps.

That appeared to do the trick. I'll let you know in a couple of days if it reverts back. I wonder what happened???

What should I do with the old folders? I don't have much in there as I was just getting started with it.

You can delete them, if you do not have any media files or project saved in those folders.
Make sure you do not delete any of your personal data.

Well, this is too strange. I went and worked with it and set up some things. I exited and got back in and it was fine. I worked some more and did some more things. I got out and got back in and fine. The minute I went and set up my scratch disk, I got out and got back in the startup went back to what it started doing before. I even deleted the scratch disk before I entered it just in case. Weird stuff for sure. I know it is not normal but it is going to have to be my normal. I'm not going to reset my PP anymore. It will take 5 seconds of my time to stretch it out and get it to size. I'm okay with that I guess. Maybe one day, we'll be able to find out what is wrong.

So, I'll just leave the start box on the right monitor. No big deal. It seems the problem is solved. All that work for something so silly but something that I don't think should happen anyway.
