Question

Duplicate files in Contents pane

I'm using RoboHelp 2019 (not Classic) and topics that I've made changes to are now appearing as new entries in the Topics pane - so there's now two versions of the same file. If I go to delete the older one, I get a message saying that there are other topics linking to this topic. Does anyone know why this is happening and what I can do to fix the issue without having to delete the older version and then redo all of the cross links?

My money is on One Drive being the issue. It is seeing a new file and adding it so then you see both.

Copy the project out of One Drive and then do a rename. Pretty sure it will be OK. Let us know.

I copied it to my C drive, deleted the .rh folder, but the duplicate files are still there. But, I've now manually gone through and removed the duplicate files and redid links.

I updated now a different topic and that topic did not duplicate. So, I'm assuming this was a glitch with OneDrive. I'm going to manually try and fix it. Thanks Peter for your help.

The new topic is not appearing in the generated files. However, I see that there are two versions in the folders - maybe this is because we use One Drive and recently did a sync? This is a new issue that I only noticed for the first time yesterday.

Close RoboHelp and delete the .rh folder. RoboHelp may take a little longer to reopen as it rebuilds a few things but that should get rid of the ghosts. Then try again.

I tried that, but it didn't work

Hmm! I am not seeing that in a project I just tested with both topic title and file name in the Contents panel. You are referring to the Topics pane. Are we talking about the same place?

Is there any source control involved?

There's no source control involved. However, about a month ago we tried to get RoboHelp to work with Git, but weren't successful. I wonder if it has to do with that.

I tried restarting a number of times, but it didn't solve the problem.

The version I have is: 2019.0.14

Have you tried closing the project and reopening it to see if that refreshes the list?

What update are you on, see the Help menu?
