RH2019 Authoring ability to Search for existing Variables in the Variables listing

Does anyone know how or if can do Search for variables in the Variables listing? We have a large number of Variables defined and in previous version of RH2015 the Variable Search was a much used time saving feature. That does not seem to be available in current RH2019 or the feature is just very hard to locate. Thoughts/Suggestions? We are currenlty using RH2019 Update 9 (14.9.0)

Thanks,

Leona Jackie Sexton

My guess would be that whatever they did got incorporated into the next normal update but yes you must check that.

    Hello Peter,

No sorry, Overlay was bad choice of words. I simply meant that our official Update 9 had an Adobe Support Customized version of RH2019 applied on top of the upgrade 9 to address a crictical issue for our projects.

If by Overlay you mean the skin, in 2019 New UI as long as your customisation is done using only the skin editor it will be fine on updating your version of RoboHelp. See the topic The Skin Editor in the supplied RoboHelp Reimagined sample project.

Thank you all. I so much appreciate your responses. We are currently using RH2019 update 9 that has a customization from Adobe overlay. We are waiting on Adobe support to verify we can successfully update our customized version of update 9 with later updates. Yes , as work around we have used the Reports option but that is very time consuming and not a practical efficient use of time during daily operations. I did not know about the Cntrl+L which I will try this and hopefully it will be more time efficient than the Reports option.

    thank you all!

    1. There are more updates available and each update bring further fixes.
    2. Have you looked at Reports > Variables? Does that help?

You can search when adding a variable to a topic (press Ctrl+1 to open the dialog box), but you can't search in the Variable or Variable Sets panels. Searching when entering a variable is also currently limited to searching for the variable name, not the variable content

You're probably referring to the New UI? I think you're a couple of updates behind - try updating & see if you can spot where (or if) it's hiding.
