Does anyone use the expand all/collapse all button with the frameless layout? I'm setting up a new layout and I'm wondering about the purpose of that particular button. There are some topics with multiple headings and sections, but the button doesn't affect the display of these topics. It also doesn't affect the display of the table of contents on the left.
I think it's only for expanding and collapsing dropdown and expanding text in topics. So if you haven't added any dropdown or expanding text in a topic, you won't see anything happen.

An update-- there may be a bug affecting this:
I removed the expand all / collapse all button from the Orange skin Topic Page settings by selecting button-icon > Background and button-icon-applied > Background (immediately under the first set of button-0 items), and I removed the reference to the *.svg file for each in the Image Path (expand_all.svg and collapse_all.svg). These changes removed the Expand/Collapse All button, but unfortunately the Filter icon at the far upper right was also removed alhtough no other changes were made. It seems the removal of the references to the expand/collapse all .svg files shouldn't have had that effect, because the Filter icon .svg files are listed under the button-2 section. In fact, the default Filter.svg and Filter2.svg are still listed in my project but the Filter icon is no longer displayed in the output. I can look into reporting this as a bug.

My first step when I suspect a bug is to create a new project and try to reproduce the issue in that. If I can, that gives me some certainty it is a bug rather than my project.

Hello Peter,
I could plan to do that if needed, but in this case starting afresh with a new project may not be needed because the changes have been so minimal. Prior to the single change made today, previous changes have involved only increasing the font size and weight in the title and body, changing the color of the header bar, and inserting a logo. No elements have been added and the only item removed was the expand/collapse all button removed today. The disappearance of the filter button happened immediately after the references to the expand/collapse all button *.svg files were removed. (The expand/collapse all button was removed, but so was the filter button.) The removal of the references to the expand/collapse all button *.svg files was the only change made today.

I didn't mean recreate your whole project, just create a project with one topic and then edit the skin making the same changes. If that repeats what happened then it does point to it being a bug.
You could then try Support to see if they can repeat it or guide you. See https://helpx.adobe.com/contact/enterprise-support.other.html#robohelp for your Adobe Support options. The email link tcssup@adobe.com is recommended as it reaches a team dedicated to Technical Communication Suite products including RoboHelp.

Try changing Flex to None for both buttons. I haven't tested it but believe that is the correct solution from another issue I had. Certainly in the Skin Editor it hides the button.

It may be a few days before I can work with this again, but I'm looking forward to giving this a try--thanks, Peter!

Thank you,
I changed the Output > Layout > Display setting from Flex to None. The bookmark and filter buttons display as expected in the Skin Editor preview, but in the output the filter button is still missing. I also tried different display settings for button-2 since the filter icon appears linked to button-2, but that didn't make a difference. I returned the button-2 display setting to the original setting: flex. This seems to be similar to issues previously reported with the changes showing in the Skin Editor preview but not in the output.

You do have a Dynamic Content Filter set in the Content settings? You started the thread talking about Expand All / Collapse All which is nothing to do with filtering.
