Search function in Robohelp AIR output stopped working

New Here ,
Nov 02, 2009 Nov 02, 2009

I recently compiled a new version of my project and now the search function in the AIR output does not work.  Any ideas?  Created a new test project and it works.  I did change any settings?  Could this be an issue from an Adobe update?

Any PDFs in your help? I am moving this thread to the AIRHelp forum where you will find threads that cover that possibility. If not, it is still the best place for this question.

Thanks Peter, however I believe this is a Robohelp issue not an AIR issue.  A test project was created and the search works.  So some how something has changed in Robohelp that has stopped my search functionality.

Your output is AIRHelp so this is the category. It is intended for people using RH to generate an AIR help file. Isn't that what you are trying to do? I'll move it back though if that is what you want.

You haven't commented on the PDF point I made.

Understood Peter, moving it is fine with me.  And yes, I do have embedded PDF's.  Is this a problem?

If you spent more time searching or reading my replies than posting, you might have found this thread in the AIR Help category.

Try that in a new project or making some changes. If you get the same results, then please report it.

Hi Peter,

I noted in another thread that even after Praful found a bad character in a .pdf tha the AIR search is sometimes flaky.  On Friday, I continued the process of cleaning up my primary project. Before I left, as a supersitious old geek, I regenerated the .AIR and the search did not work again.

The last time this happened, after I genned again, the search worked. There seems to be something a little flaky under to hood in creating an .AIR output from a Webhelp project, at least part of the time. I realize that the .AIR format is a compliled (binary) product. In that environment, 1 bit out of place will likely cause inconsistent results.

Cheers

Ed
