some hyperlinks to external topics show a second toc

It appears that when I click on a hyperlink to an external topic, the newly displayed topic also displays it's own TOC.  The parent project TOC is displayed, but then directly to the right of that, the child TOC is displayed:

The left TOC is my parent project, the right os the child TOC, further to the right is the child project topic main page (which is correct).

How can I set up the projects so that the child TOC is not shown when using hyperlinks to navigate between child projects?

Thanks in advance.

It is usually because you are linking to the start page rather than the default topic.

Peter,

You called it.  I was linking to the start page of the project instead of the actual topic.htm.

Is there documentation somewhere that mentions that key difference, or is it something you've learned over time?

Anyway, thanks for your help (and thank you as well Captiv8r for responding so quickly)!

Regards,

Jim
